Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, celebrates freedom and the Maccabees' victory over Syria's armies in 165 B.C.E. We invite our community to join us throughout the month for festive activities for everyone!

Menorah Candle Lighting at the J

December 15 - 19, 22 • 3:30 PM (Crafts) 4 PM (Candlelighting)
Join us all week long in the Lentzner Promenade for candle lighting, treats, crafts, and Chanukah movies!

Mon 12/15: Menorah Crafts with Temple Beth Shalom's Rabbi Mirski
Tues 12/16: Cookie Decorating with Beth David's Rabbi Nancy Myers & Cantor Nancy Linder. Wear your cozy Chanukah PJs!
Wed 12/17: Dreidel spin art and a family movie with Shul by the Shore's Rabbi Perelmuter
Thurs 12/18: Latke Dinner (lighting at 5:30 PM, see details below)
Fri 12/19: Musical Shabbat fun with Temple Israel's Cantor Cooper & Youth Choir

  • Found Objects Menorah-Making Contest

    Drop Off: Tuesday, December 9 – Monday, December 15 • Awards: Thursday, December 18, 5 PM
    Celebrate creativity, family, and the spirit of Chanukah by making your very own menorah out of found objects for a chance to win a prize!

  • GIANT Menorah Lighting

    Sunday • December 14 • 4 PM • FREE • 2nd & PCH
    Celebrate Chanukah with the whole family and our community at 2nd & PCH, featuring the giant menorah lighting, live music from Emotional Intelligence, donuts, and more!

  • Scholastic Book Fair

    December 14 - 19
    Pick out your favorite books all week long during drop-off and pick-up times!
    Proceeds support your favorite youth programs.

  • Chanukah Latke Bar Dinner

    Thursday • December 18 • 5 PM
    Celebrate Chanukah with a festive holiday dinner for the whole family featuring latkes, bounce houses, tot zones, and all-around holiday fun!
    $36/family, $10/individual

  • Jessie Butler Senior Luncheon

    Wednesday • December 17 • 12 pm
    A Chanukah-themed luncheon! Open to our senior community! Good food and entertainment, musical guests, crafts, games, and more!
    $10 | $5 for AJCC Members

    Make a difference for a family in need this holiday season! We're sponsoring local families with JFCS to ensure they have the best holiday possible by collecting donations and gifts for each family.
