Each year, the Jewish Federation and the Jewish Community Foundation hold a Combined Annual Meeting. It was a special evening where we highlighted the successes our agencies have made during the past year, as well as elected and installed new board members and officers who will lend their hands to help us continue benefiting the local community in the upcoming fiscal year. This year we recognized Shari & Lawrence Nemirow as recipients of the Robert Baldwin Community Service Award. The Nemirows have contributed immeasurably to the welfare and infrastructure of our community, and are passionate advocates for Israel and worldwide Jewry. We were honored that Chaya Lea Sufrin, an amazing educator, was the recipient of the Fred Neuburger Young Leadership Award. Chaya Lea joined other graduates of the Alpert New Leaders Forum who have received this honor in recent years. We also recognized Joyce Feldman, as Long Beach’s recipient of the national Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award for her work promoting Women’s Philanthropy as a stellar Lion of Judah.
